SGSAH (AHRC) Doctoral Awards (UK/EU)

The University of St Andrews is part of a consortium of 8 Higher Education institutions which has been awarded funding from the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) to support postgraduate studentships and training in the Arts and Humanities in Scotland. Under the Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP) scheme, the consortium – composed of the Universities of Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, St Andrews, Stirling, Strathclyde and Glasgow School of Art – will consider applications for doctoral studentship awards in the majority of Arts and Humanities subjects.

If you intend to apply for this award, please send an intimation of interest to [email protected] by 15 December, confirming that you have checked your eligibility, noting whether you are applying as a UK or EU applicant, and listing the name of the potential supervisor with whom you have been communicating.

SGSAH application forms for all prospective doctoral students should then be completed by 10 January as nominees will be chosen from the pool of candidates who have submitted all necessary documentation and have supervisor support. A downloadable SGSAH application form, eligibility criteria, and further information about the application process is available at: https://www.sgsah.ac.uk/prospective/dtp/

Completed PhD applications should be made via the University of St Andrews online application system by the earlier deadline of 4 January to ensure that assessments can take place within the short timeline available. However, you do not need to hold a study place offer prior to submission of the SGSAH application.

Applicants should also complete the internal SGSAH award registration requirement via the Scholarships and Funding Catalogue by 25 January.
